One Tree Hill pulls a "Degrassi"

Last night on a very special "One Tree Hill"...well...you get the picture...outcast kid with a gun doesn't mean to shoot anybody but he does anyway. I guess this is a last ditch effort to convince the CW to put One Tree Hill in its lineup, or unfortunately go out with a bang. I only started watching last year, and it was getting good up until this point. From now on I hope the writers come up with something original instead of borrowing a idea from a very good Canadian teen drama.

Thoughts please?
Edited by Jets885sports on 03/23/06 04:33 PM.

One Tree Hill's ratings are down greatly since moving to Wednesday and I doubt the CW will keep it. I found the show to be very boring and predictable. It's no Degrassi...hell it's no Dawson's Creek.

There's not even a comparison there.

If they want to put on a good teen drama with an already huge following, why not just put Degrassi on The CW? I don't think Viacom realizes what they're sitting on. Instead of being the sole reason for The N's existence, Degrassi could be making them a mint on a real network. It's amazing how much of a following that show has, considering it's exclusively available on digital and satellite.

The writing certainly has continuously deteriorated. In any case, I expect the series finale in May. Dan can shoot everyone on the cast and declare himself "King of the Tree"!

I don't know---it sounds more like a rip off of a recent real-life situation. Had the "outcast kid" been drinking before the shooting incident?

No. But he did smoke like a freight train, something I thought was kinda out of place for the setting.
______________

I'd thought about that last year; putting Degrassi on UPN would have given the network a boost.

Here's the problem that's keeping Degrassi off of CBS and UPN: they're not co-owned anymore. UPN (and the 50% of CW) is owned by CBS Corporation, while MTV Networks (which includes "The N") is a property of Viacom.

If CBS could somehow get Degrassi, it could bring a lot of buzz to The CW.

Better yet....Was he an American-Hating, Trenchcoat-Toting, Neo-Nazi Facist? If so, you've got a Columbine re-enactment on TV.

Geez....How quickly some people forget. :(

Just my opinion :/

Cheers :)
