ONE YEAR AGO TODAY...

Since I started this thread, I'll give my memory.

I first heard The Buzz in 2000, while on vacation for my 21st Birthday. I found a internet stream in early 2005 where I got regular exposure to The Buzz, sometimes 8-10 hours a day. That day I was tuned into the last hour of Robin and Maynard for the morning and it just sounded like a radio tuner off frequency. I couldn't figure out what it was. I knew "the big announcement" was coming up on KISW later that morning. Then the robotic countdown began. Right There! Bang! That was IT! I knew the station was gone.

Then I heard some Toby Keith. That was it...

To me, I was new to the exposure of the station and being able to listen daily was a lot of fun. I believe Entercom leaked the flip to advertisers at least a week before the actual flip. Most of the shows on The Buzz were very entertaining.

Just not enough money was being made on the format anymore.

I think the actual radio professionals have moved on and managed to stay on the air.

NWOidaho, I don't like personal attacks on this board but I thought I might point out to anyone who reads this board and post that you are a regular poster on the message board/web site of a certain former Mid day host at the Buzz.
I will also say that you cannot be someone who actually has or had a career in broadcasting.
In many instances there are people in this business that after losing a job it takes a year to get another sometimes longer in the same market that you were employed in before .

I will also say that I do take exception with a certain "on air" staffer at the former Buzz who thought it was funny to make jokes and laugh about certain people in the office who were upset and angry about getting fired.
I won't say anymore than that but did want to respond to what you had to say NWoidaho and point out that you're a regular on that particular message board.

I wasn't personally attacking anyone, I was simply making a point to what management did.

I know exactly what having a job in broadcasting is like as a former employee of Clear Channel and a six year tenure as an lead master control operator and promotions assistant for a TV station here in Boise. I've been "on the beach" for the past 3 years dealing with family obligations and relaxing after being in the grind for nearly 10 years.

I've been in and out of radio stations since I was 16 years old.

I know exactly what the struggle is like to try and find any job back in "the" business. I've also been a person put in positions where I've had to make decisions above and beyond my job description, unlike some people in large markets. I've had that stress, I know it.

Facts are Facts. Robin and Maynard SUCKED on The Buzz! BJ was the only thing besides Old Man Leykis holding up the station. The Mens Room had a contract and were in the right place at the right time.

While everyone else did good radio on The Buzz and were probably good people in real life, if they had been a true contributer to the company they worked for, they would still be employed.

If you can't take a joke being made out of your own firing, any type of broadcasting might not be the job for you. For years, I was made fun of on the air and I had to take it. That's the nature of the business.

I've quit at places where almost instantly, I knew they were making fun of me. Yeah, it hurts and maybe it's not deserved, but it happens. Hell, when I've seen someone walked out and had personal knowledge of what had happened, a snicker and talk between current employees will and has happened.

That's part of life, you just deal with it and move on.

That's what Entercom did with The Wolf. Now they have a Top 5 Station to show for it.
