One Year From Now

The CHR competition that I remember from the 80s was: WXKS, WHTT, and WROR in 83, later WZOU came into the mix with WROR becoming more of what we might call Hot AC now.

I'm pretty sure WZOU signed on in Sept '83, with WHTT and 'XKS both on the dial. 103.3 WHTT flipped to "Quality Rock" WMRQ long before WZOU flipped to JAM'N.

They have no money but they have credit cards they max out.
Bob Bittner mentioned this yrs ago on Let's Talk About Radio. They go after the young who
finance on credit rather than pay most of a big purchase off., They got after the young who
are still making up their minds on brand loyalty, not those who are solid in their preferences.
It may be folly to ignore the middle aged and older etc but this is what advertisers go for. That's why
you have the youthful music formats and also things like sports talk...as opposed to political
talk. Someone like me born half a century ago likes Howie but what about 25-30 yr olds?

But sports may just be more popular than politics.

As Bob Bittner says, "Cut Up Your Credit Cards! Most Of Them Are Evil!"
And don't forget to support locally owned businesses. They're your friends and neighbors.

Hey! I'm not dead yet! I'm 32 and my two favorite stations are WRKO and WJIB.......!!!!

There are plenty others like me....!

BULLETIN:

Most WJIB listeners are dead.

BULLETIN II:

Limbaugh/Hannity listeners are right behind them.
