Ongoing Irene coverage

WBZ had Dan Rea on last night taking calls about hurricane (instead of Kim Kommando I believe)

Via Mark S/Boston Radio Watch tweets
His site is http://www.bostonradiowatch.com :

96.9 gardening; WBUR and WBZ fully staffed (wall to wall on 1030)
WRKO running cont. ABC News coverage
WXKS Ch 5 simulcast. Local inserts George Brown
1510 had NASCAR stuff yesterday; today, YahooSports Radio
89.7 NPR public affairs

WRKO has mentioned on facebook they have ABC news at top of hour plus at 2 pm live coverage with Todd Feinburg and June Knight

WATD coverage is pretty good, a brief off-air moment aside. no sign of WMBR , 107.1 guy said our antenna is temporary (in portuguese) whatever that means. RadioUn gone. Vibe dead-carrier. Derry NH repeater down according to 145.23. numerous outages being reported on 2meters. waltham out but both their 2m and 440 boxes are up. backup power?

Whatever radio stations do, got to be better than the melodrama on tv...BREAKING NEWS....

WMUR Manchester (NH) had a chick in Keene(NH) standing in a puddle of water talking about flooding. Pliz....

Rather than run a live edition of Rd Eye Radio RKO stuck with a rebroadcast of the Jerry Doyle show. I have no idea why they don't run RER on Saturdays. Fridays RER broadcast was excellent with several meterologists and a storm chaser from NC

June Knight? The same lady that used to be on KISS 108 and W O D S 103.3?
She was on W R K O ?

Some stations around New England besides WJDA etc may well be off air if their towers were blown down or studios inundated by water. I heard Waterbury VT got hit hard and I wonder about their WDEV, for example

Yes June Knight the former Miss Kiss and morning news person at WODS has been working for Barry Armstrong at WBNW. she took over for that guy who seemed to be on the staion almost 24 hours a day. Anyone know what happended to that guy.

...no sign of WMBR...

#1): MIT closed the campus, we were notified that there would be no access, though the stations Tech. Director got in and played music for a few hours Sunday afternoon.

#2): All of WMBR's regular Sunday daytime hosts/producers are non-MIT community volunteers, some of whom live some distance from the station and chose not to make the drive in during the storm.

I have to give huge kudos to News Anchor, Garo Hagopian, Producer and CE, Larry Nelson and Ed Perry down at WATD.

We had some very serious concerns about broadcasting music during my 2-4 Sunday, brokered time slot for The Eclectic Picnic, but Edward was secure enough in knowing that the on-air staff was able to handle the situation and we did a series of drop-ins from reporters on the road AND put the music in, too!

All told, WATD did, again, what they do best during all emergency situations and provided continuous, quality coverage for the communties that they serve...and they're STILL doing it as I write this!

Great job and I'm grateful we still have stations like `ATD and owners like Ed & Carol who actually put the needs of their community at the forefront of their broadcast mission--something the corporate entities in this and all U.S. markets could certainly learn from. I'm glad I'm a small part of the `ATD operation.

Vmorrison:

The reason they don't run Red Eye Radio is because stations have contracts with certain shows/networks.

I'm sure Doyle's providers would love to get a call saying "we decided to dump your show last night, and all your network spots because last night another show was better,"
