Online radio listening posts..

To the NA users thank you for the logs and feedback on the forum.

As I am located at 55N latitude, you all have probably noticed that this receiver is very susceptable to Auroral conditions. This equates to Northern Canada !!! MW conditions can change at the drop of a hat, from being really good to being absolute shit...

The hardest DX has been:
Japan: 1278 JOHR, 1332 JOSF
S. Korea: 972 HLCA, 1170 KBS
Alaska: 680 KBRW, 970 KFBX
These station are all located on a bearing that goes through the Auroral zone, so are only possible during very quite solar periods i.e. sunspot minimum.

Never heard Aus or NZ, so that would be really good..

Anyway it's nice to see what you guys are hearing so I know if the node is performing or not. There are some DXers in Europe that never leave any feedback :-\

Good listening..
Alan (oldtimer)

For Japan, I've logged 594 JOAK, 693 JOAB, 747 JOIB, 774 JOUB. For Korea, I've logged 972 HLCA.
For AK-it's only two stations. KTKN 930 and KTZN 550.

Had 2 chances to listen to Atlantic DX tonight, first chance around 0430UTC. Conditions poor, even WBBR was weak.
Came back about 0640Z and again poor conditions. The only stations I heard above the noise level were WBBR & WINS.
WFAN & WBZ at noise level along with Radio Reloj 570. Heard something on 640, but could not identify. Heard a UK station on 750. Don't know where that was. No WWKB tonight when I listened & that's usually pretty dependable. Another sign of poor conditions. No WCBS or WABC.
The good news about listening at this time was the low noise levels due to most of the rest of Europe being in daylight.

Dunno what the station on 750 was, that's not a UK or European frequency. I do know there is a harmonic on 650 from 846 the Irish Pirate "Radio North" which is less then ten miles from me. Have a listen on 846 from your side, its a 1Kw so would be a great
catch !!

Cheers and hoping for better conditions.

Hey Alan, a big thumbs up, to you and the other Global Tuners node operators. We really appreciate you, for letting us 'borrow' your equipment, at no expense for our-selves. A selfless act of kindness, to your fellow DXers. 8)

Cheers!

Your UK station on 750 was likely CBGY in Newfoundland. Must have been rebroadcasting BBC World Service at the time.
What is your username? Is it the same as here or different? Maybe sometime we could unexpectedly meet up on the Atlantic node at the same time.

Heads up guys.

To let you all know, the East coasters are coming trough at quite good levels already, so it might be a good night on TA MW-DX.

WINZ should be possible there! Glad to know it made it.

The 1180----make sure the distinction between R Marti & Radio Rebelde in Cuba. If SW 5025 matches, it's Rebelde. If 6030 matches, Marti.

I noticed from last nights logs, the number of Cuban stations appearing. The antenna's bearing has been shifted a little further to the North. That should favour the Mid-West/West Coast. I am restricted as to how much I can move it, as I then begin to loose the ability to null out the stations from Spain and those Europeans off the back of the antenna.

If you can't be bothered keeping a log, just make a comment on the receiver chat text, just freq and comment, I will then see it on my node log, thanks.

Have fun, and keep the logs coming.

I also noticed the caribbean stations were dominating last night. Thanks for making the adjustment.

Atlantic DX report for tonight again indicated to me that the Caribbean stations were most dominant between 0430-0500Z
I heard a weaker than usual WBBR on 1130 and CFRB over WINS on 1010. Those were the only NA stations I heard during the time I listened.
Heard Spanish language on 570, 660, 770, 780 and 1100. A weaker than normal WWKB on 1520 was the only other NA I heard.
Conditions still favoring Caribbean, but even those were weak tonight when I listened.

I think you guys are listening on this node a bit too early in the morning, I never had much luck DXing at 02-06z my time.
Best DX to the West is just after sunrise for about an hour. Infact WINS was still a good level at 0950z this morning along
with the usual big East coasters.

I'll try to stay up later on the weekends :)

Basically it is just a matter of when it'll be dark in both Europe AND the Americas.

Global Tuners is always full of little surprises. I'm on the node in Sekule, Slovakia (http://www.globaltuners.com/receiver/vk4fsgw.php?receiver=232), trying to use 1413 kHz BBC WS Oman as a possible match, for DXing from my location. Sure the Spaniards are there, but underneath, and sometimes on top, is the 500 watt Premier Christian Radio (snagging either the Gatwick or Kent signal). There's BBC locals mixing in there, each listed at 500 watts, as well.

Alan, I was able to get on your Atlantic MW DX receiver last year's winte DXing season and enjoyed some nice catches but when I tried recently, I can't see the receiver.

There's something at the bottom of my screen asking if I want to download a program but I don't know if that's specifically for your receiver or some unknown thing that may have somehow gotten into the site.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Sunday Morning DX 0730 UTC from Atlantic DX. One other person there who refused me to tune, so only one frequency tonight.

1600-WUNR Massachusetts with pretty good signal, salsa music. 20kw. No sign of anything else under, including no WWRL. New target!
