Online tuner setup has changed...for good?

Can't stand the timeout issue with XM's online listening (I believe you get a whole HOUR before it throws you off.) I switched to www.xmtuner.net over a year ago...no timeout issues, reliable, simple interface, etc. Today, it logs on and connects but pulls up an error code. I check the xmtuner.net website, which says, "June 17th, 2011: The legacy streams XMTuner uses are currently down - for all channels. Hopefully this is temporary, but its possible that SiriusXM has ended these streams (which are not the ones their new player uses)."

Anyone know if this is permanent? I've ridden this satellite radio thing for 10 years this year, and I'm so tired of some moron trying to reinvent the wheel. If it's ain't broke...you know the rest. Every change seems to make things worse...musically, technology-wise, etc.

The new player on the XM website didn't time out for a little over 3 hours when tested over the weekend. Just enough time to capture an "American Top 40" without having to re-log in. I can live with that, but still, anyone know any details about this change? Permanent? No more "legacy streams?"

The streams still exist, albeit with different addresses. Musicdock has the new URLs. They could easily be reverse engineered by someone willing to take the time to open each stream and note the source of the ensuing traffic, but none of the providers of the third-party apps has thus far seen fit to do so.
