Only Fools and Horses coming to ABC

ABC is to make an American version of the BBC comedy Only Fools and Horses. I'm not sure what I think of this, although I'm certainly going to watch it out of curiosity. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-16796364

OF&H is widely considered to be the best British comedy of all time, but it's been nearly a decade since it was shown of here and (IMHO) more like two decades since its 'heyday'.

Be interesting to see how this one pans out.

If ABC does to Only Fools and Horses what they did to Life On Mars a few years back, then the show won't last long. Life On Mars started out strong, was put on hiatus for a few months, returned to a lousy time slot, cancelled, and given an unusual finale that was 180 degrees from the UK version.

It was still a good show. I did feel cheated by the finale.

I've never even heard of the other show. I'll probably watch, though.

You are probably at an advantage, as you have no preconceptions. To me, OFandH is so quintessially London based, very 'cockney' so it's hard to imagine it set anywhere else. It's kind of going to be like imagining a remake of 'Baywatch' set in a small British seaside resort!!

But like I say, it's going to be interesting to see. Hopefully the BBC will have the UK rights as part of the deal so they will be on a free to air channel and not just on cable.
