tHE bELLEFONTAIN STATIONS ( WPKO & WBLL) HAVE BEEN SAYING THEY ARE THE ONLY STATIONS IN LOGAN COUNTY. WRPO-LP AND WDEQ-FM COMES TO MIND AS ALSO BEING LOCATED IN LOGAN COUNTY. WHAT'S TAHT ALL ABOUT?? ???
Seems to me they either think WRPO and WDEQ doesn't exist or they simply refuse to admit that they do.
My gut feelings tell me there are some hateful and arrogant souls here.
Somebody show them the Wikipedia article on Logan County (scroll down to "Categories" at the bottom and click on "Logan County, Ohio" It will then forward you to "Pages in category: Logan County, Ohio" where all of Logan County's stations are promptly listed under the "W" heading...including WRPO and WDEQ.
Don't know if WBLL/WPKO's owners are local or not. Back when it was still WTOO and before that as WOHP it was.
Louie is from Columbus. I think he worked in sales at WTVN prior to purchasing the stations on the hill. Saying they are the only stations in Logan is good promoting only because they will never be challenged in any serious fashion by Indian Lake and Degraff. You know it, I know it, but the average schmoe in Logan doesn't.
What's the Degraff station going to do, sue them? Good luck with that. It's a little like 10 stations in a market all claiming to play the most music. Or "more music than the law allows".
Not familiar with Logan, but could they mean they are the only "local" staions in Logan, meaning the others are voice tracked from elsewhere, or studios, etc aren't technically in Logan?
Isn't the validity of the claim that they're the only commercial shop in the county? And don't (right or wrong) commercial operators tend to ignore their non-com brethren?
Both WRPO-LP and WDEQ-FM have local studios and do broadcast live from them. WBLL has filed for a CP to move that station into the Cols area, useing WOSU's AM tower. So far the FCC has not granted the CP.
