I actually just sampled it for a few minutes during lunch. It really isn't bad. They're playing some borderline unique classic cuts. Although I've not totally bought into the thinking just yet, I assume they're banking on the Hawk's success in the Lehigh Valley against the other 4 FM's. Still ... there isn't a mainstay station in the LV with a format like Y-102's, so I'm not sure it'll work.
Then again, this could all be a stunt. I'm still haunted at night by that post a few days back "the wolf is at the door 04 01 06"

Three weeks is a long time to stunt, though.
Unless part of their plan is purging any listenership they have/may gain before they start something different; in that case, this is brilliant!

This post gave me a flashback to the early to mid 80s in the Lehigh Valley. On Saturday nights, Q-100 had an oldies show, WLEV had an oldies show, 104 was country, 100.7 was beautiful music. The only station playing any pop/rock currents Saturdays from 7 PM to midnight was 'ZZO. And if you didn't like ZZO's brand of currents, you either had to tune in a Philly station or pop in a cassette.
And before Q-100 came along, the Valley didn't have a true current Top 40 station for a few years, after 790 and 1230 went more adult.
A lack of current music on the radio isn't necessarily a symptom of modern times.

Rick Musselman (assuming he posted all the posts as mussels) made 2 recent posts: yesterday: "FYI, should be tomorrow around noon, guys", and last week "The Wolf is at the door on 04-01-06". We know the first came true - there was a change at noon today. It didn't say the new format would start today. It seems very possible the Wolf will still howl on April Fool's Day.
The last post said 3 weeks was a long stunt. When Nassau took over WRDR in South Jersey they simulcast WPST in Trenton a couple days, then did a 4 MONTH jockless stunt as "The All New Country 104.9" before switching to Smooth Jazz. The word at that time was they were just trying to shake up Atlantic City's country WPUR but never meant it to be permanent.
This is very interesting as we thought it would be. If you go to Radio Locator and click on the link to the website of Frank 107.5 WFNK, Lewiston, Maine it links to that Reading's Frank 107.5 page. If you go to 1075frank.com you get a detailed website for the Maine station. Nassau has been getting ready for this change for months. If this was the real thing, wouldn't they have prepared a full website, and changed the calls from WBYN? I read an article that the Maine station came out of the box with heavy local advertising, so watch for this (or not?) over the next few weeks. Since they already have a Frank 107.5 it was easy to put this station here on the air today, even for a short time.
If they change calls to a "Frank" sounding name soon, or add an airstaff, or a real website, or advertise, then I'll agree Frank is here to stay. Otherwise we'll see if another change comes in 3 weeks. (If I'm wrong, just remember the subject of this post so I'm covered either way lol.)

The 4/1/06 change seems odd because of April Fool's Day falling on a Saturday. Typically, format changes don't occur on a weekend. But, who knows! I hope Frank is here to stay. Personally, I like the classic hits format.

107.5 Frank fm in Maine came on commercial free with 10,000 songs in a row,which took about 5 weeks.
