ooops is outsourcing good for radio?

I meant to post about this a few weeks ago but never got around to it.

More than once on various stations I have heard other stations names or calls letters by accident.

2 weeks ago on 680 at the traffic open I heard 790 meantioned instead of 680

I know those guys probably have to juggle around way to many things at one time.

If i was a station owner or manager I would be furious. I guess in retrospect the person who made the ooops didnt get redlined by a nasty pd or gm

It happens at least weekly on 790. And to make it worse, the slipup is usually mentioning 560. Any PD in his right mind would put an end to this immediately. Especially when it sounds like the traffic reports are recorded. I cannot tell you how many times I have heard the afternoon traffic guy mess up in the middle of the report and say he's doing it again and start another countdown.

Then again, you have to have a real program director to correct such things.

Jeez, what's a few mistakes when it saves you money? Don't you know mediocrity rules?

What do you want, an actual employee? It's bad enough we still have to have an actual HUMAN doing traffic!

Get in the 21st century radio game, for Pete's sake!

hahahahahhahahahhahahha!!! <snort> Hey, that Black and Decker storm center thingy worked for Andy Wise so I gave one to Dad for Christmas! It has the NOAA frequency, TV station frequencies, a cell phone plug in, flashlight, etc. and even it's own little "find me" light!! wooohoooo!!!
All I know is how enjoyable it is to actually be a human being doing live traffic reports and having a bit of fun with some of the best information.
Then again, we're Total Traffic Network and DO have a supervisor who
surely tries to follow up and give you best whenever possible. ;)
'big ole grin'
I'd prolly look to the board op who just may have pulled up
the wrong pre-record.

Those things are great. I got one for my mother for "The Holiday."

Now, it is a little like closing the barn door after the horses got out -- I reviewed the contract to rebuild her Biloxi home last week. But, it was a neat gift, and I found a place that shipped it free (which is good because ship weight was over 13 pounds; sealed lead-acid batteries are heavy).

And, in 2009, the TV audio will be useless, but that's another topic.

Oh, and just to stay on-topic... outsourcing is fine if you pick your vendors carefully. Look for a vendor with professional-sounding, affable, voice talents with big, blonde (+/-) hair-dos. I wonder if there is anyone like that out there?!

It's all the lawyers' fault.
