OOOPs! OPEN MIC

At around 3:50 today Arleen's Board-Op forgot to turn off Arlene's Mic. While spots were playing you could hear her asking Micheal if he was tired and some background yapping between her and Micheal during spots.
Myself being the concerned listener had to call and tell him the mics were still on.

yes, that was my good deed for the day. I'll take the chest to pin my medal on. ;D

Did she ask if he was tired or fired?

Damn open mics will get you every time.

Back in the days of the original WYNG. Cart machines, then, had a habit of stalling and having to be restarted by slamming down a lever.

Ed Williams reading the noon news.

Hits spot (on cart) for a real estate firm; leaves mic open:

.........Rhode Island's most active (cart stalls)

Williams: SON OF A BITC...... (SLAM)

....real estate firm.

Door to studio bursts open, loudly.

spot continues.....

GM Bill Dawson screams: WILLIAMS, YOU'VE MADE AN ASS OF YOURSELF...AGAIN!

spot continues.

Door slams shut!

Mic gets turned off.

spot concludes.

Silence. Williams forgot to turn the mic back on.

And then things started to go downhill.

It was a newscast I was supposed to read but I was home sick in bed with flu so I got to hear it all from a listener perspective.

Same station where Big Ange (then Jack Andrews) did afternoons. Not what you'd call "real professional" but (in retrospect) fun to listen to.

Open Mics can be funny, and could cost you your job. Oh my god, I have heard a few.....lol.

Sorry Just passing by but had to relay this story:
I was 17 years old my first radio job @ a 1000 watt daytimer in a small town in Georgia, Austell to be exact. The then phone screener/ request puller in the station,
was 28, I was again 17 and I had that day experienced my first real backseat nekid fun with a hottie, who was the (Older) woman. After some of that before that shift
along with some of the Funny Cigarette action made this horrid blooper:

Its 3:30 pm at WACX Austell Georgia, Im Rex Nolan and as usual heres ole Larry Munson from The Georgia Network with F*!K Talk !!!!!!

The bad part is that I didnt find out till later in the evening when one of my Listerners called to alert me that I needed to leave personal thoughts out of my
on air bit!

Heard Matt Allen today, prior to his 'open forum' talk about the Kennedy family. The' oldest profession' in the world.
And getting an email from his PD. After he made those comments while on the air. For a moment or two his producer Doug was thinking about playing music during the 11am hour. Prior to today. Matt & Dan Yorke after 6:30pm Friday night going at it regarding Dan's use of football terminology. And how Matt was slightly offended. It Made for interesting radio.
