Oops: Competition mentioned on WRKO (mentioning your rivals)

Not sure if Laura Ingraham was doing a live show or not (probably was) but I had to chuckle when I
heard her play a clip from a few years ago of Mitt Romney promising her a date (which never came to
pass) with an Olympic athlete, and she said, "That was from a live appearance we did on our great
affiliate 96.9 FM Talk". Oops! Competition mentioned! Of course 'RKO probably had no board op there
to "bleep it out" :)
Either Laura forgot she's now on WRKO in Boston (she's said that live on air) or she forgot to add
"...at the time"--(it could have been at one of the Kiss Me I'm Imus shows), and yes she didn't say
"in Boston" but you associate Romney with Boston, etc.

Howie of course frequently mentions the competition--not just "I was listening to CNBC on 'the magic
radio' (XM/Sirius) on the way home", but when Christy Mihos was on recently and said he had to go
to be on another radio station, Howie said, "Yeah, you're going to the other side--maybe I'll be there
someday". And: "You know, there are some talk stations with nice FM signals that don't fade after dark."
And so on. (Another:"We'll draw the name of the winner out of this hat, this nice baseball cap I got
from a certain FM station". Howie supposedly wore the 96.9 FM Talk hat when doing his show from
Manchester NH last winter! :) )

Years ago TV talk shows like Carson were forbidden to mention another network by name, so they'd
say "He's got a new show on 'another network'" (if NBC was so paranoid about helping to promote
a show on another network, why did they bother to have the celeb on? ha)

Last night on WBZ I heard them say what the final of the Bruins score was but didn't give the
partial score of the Celtics game--perhaps because they'd be afraid a sports fan might go, Ah!
I forgot they were on--and switch to WEEI! Of course Morgan White Jr did mention the Celts
were playing, as his interview with Jo Jo White was delayed so Jo Jo could catch the end of
the C's, presumably on a TV in the other room, but whatever.

There have of course been vague references to the competition where call letters aren't
mentioned, like Severin saying that on "AM Radio" they'd be discussing "(Passing gas)" or
other interesting topics..Didn't say calls by name.

Brudnoy used to refer to other stations as, "He does a show on another station beginning with W..."
