Has anybody ever listened to 'Open Forum' on WVOL, mid days between 1 and 3?

Interesting to say the least..

7 out of every 10 callers are the same 5 pranksters that call in daily. Caller ID, call block, anybody??

Chris Clark used to have a similiar problem in the early days of
"Channel 5 plus"... one caller would always seem to get thru with a very
intelligent-sounding commentary...that would slowly turn in to him slowly shouting
something that ended with the line "FOR ME AND MY MONKEY!".

always clean.
always stupid.
always funny.

now then...anyone else see the debut of Teddy Barts's talk show on the then Jim Owens
owned channel 66? Caller asked Teddy "does your wife know you're ----ing Karlen?"
It was a LONG time ago...and I had it saved on VHS...but someone borrowed it and
never returned it.

One would think 'VOL would start blocking phone numbers to weed out the pranksters, because there are some calls that are actually intelligent.

What cracks me up is when the host, Rev. T.J. Graham, gets so worked up every time these people all in.

It gets old after a while. .

Yes! Its one of those things you just don't ever forget. The studio guest was David Manning. When Teddy decided to go back to the phones, David asked, "do we dare!". Thats when all hell broke loose. Shortly thereafter, I received a call from Teddy inquiring as to where an inexpensive delay could be had..... I also think the caller actually addressed Teddy by his real name at one point.

reminds me of the old 'swap and shop" daily shows we were forced to run and take live callers..until...a guy called and said "i have a big d*ck for sale...pot down and mic open " and other items on swap and shop are two ducks for sale"...after that inst music and took calls and wrote the items down and then announced them..the noon block always a big downer...rocking along til noon...then 15 minutes of local, state, national news, 15 minutes of swap and shop, a fifteen minute "moments of meditation" ..then at 12:45 back to rock and roll..........what the he!! were the owners thinking??? lol ???

Romer, I saw that live. One priceless moment in local broadcasting. But if I remember correctly, Teddy never awnsered the question.

All these sound amusing - but they probably wouldn't hold a candle to the live call-in programming on low-power Channel 7 in Philadelphia in the early 90's. On many an hour, there would be a host named Mike Phillips who would be inundated with "jokers" calling in and pranking him.

I worked in Clarksville with a fellow who previously worked a small AM station in Dickson. Jock told me Dickson station "Swap and Shop" was their lunch hour programming. Dickson station went reel-to-reel seven seconds' delay after a caller offered to sell some Colombian Gold.

It seems like that prank would have also worked on B & T's "Mr. Obvious" segment, CR!
