Hey Hank...
I'm in this business because of that radio station. I always wanted to do that. I had one of those rigs that Radio Shack sold a million years ago that came with the mike and the striking key for Morse Code. Had it set up in my bedroom so that I could broadcast to my brother downstairs.
Singing Rats in My Room...watching the Jungle Jay Show, and peeing my pants whenever I saw that statue of the Gorilla say something outrageous. Thought of that station every time I heard Rod Roddy say "Come on down."
I heard Jackson Armstong on that station when I was in Viet Nam. I was thrilled to be hearing a station from "The World." I have the War of the Worlds recording from '73 or '74 with Shane doing nights...burned it to CD a few years ago and sent some copies out...I never got to send him one...no one could give me an address for him. Damn shame...Shane is one of my heroes; truly.
I'm blessed for having worked, albeit such a short time, with you, Sandy and Don Berns at 102. Jimmy Fagan and Abie Marks and their little Irish gig that I produced for them at 'JJL. We were constantly busting up. What a hoot.
Hank, you were asked to do a tough job...give KB life again. I don't care what kind of connections Neavereth has at Saint T & A in South Buffalo...you get to take 2 steps closer to Heaven just for that.
I just think it should have gotten a decent burial. Maybe that's the problem with radio these days. We're not addressing the 'real' decency issue...there ain't enough decent guys in it anymore.
Sincerely,
Magoo
