Opening at 102

Seems to look legit. I know Journal seems to have been on a hiring spree lately. They hired several new people for their new country outlet (Q100.3), & also a new music director/night jock for rhythmic Hot 104.5. I would assume it's valid.

I'm getting a feeling that after buying 100.3, Journal is really putting some money into their Knoxville cluster. I think they feel they can take the lead in this market now over South Central & Cumulus.

Meanwhile, their closest competitor, if you can call them that over at 106.1 dropped the unbearable Bruce Patrick morning show for the syndicated Bob and Sherri. While B&S don't provide the most entertaining four hours, dead air would have been an improvement over the old show.

Speaking of 106.1, what's up with them musically lately? They seem to have went to an odd mix of Hot AC and often obscure 90's AAA type stuff. It really is a mess, formatwise. They should just stick with the normal Hot AC hits and bump it up a decade ("90s, 2K, & Today" as most Hot AC's have done).

Their playlist seems heavy on 90s lately, like 90s on 9 on XM. It's a nice change, haven't heard some of the stuff on their in years.

Did somebody mention on another thread that 106.1 is programming it on their own now?

I think ditching the satellite feed was a good move, but the playlist & rotation (at least for a Hot AC is awful). It's not that there's too much 90s gold, but they play unfamiliar, low charting gold cuts. It sounds more like someone's personal iPod playlist than any kind of researched format.
