OPENING DAY ON THE FAN

Nice job by the Fan today to kick off their new relationship with the Pirates.

Each of the hosts did an hour shift before pregame started, some with their normal on-air partners and some not.

So far the biggest improvement over Clear Channel's last few years is that they hired a dedicated pre- and post-game team, namely Dan Zangrilli, former Altoona Curve play-by-play man, and former major leaguer Kevin Orie, who is from Mt.Lebanon. On day one Orie is better than Josh Miller.

It was a major-league presentation.... now keep it under 90 losses and we're good.....

Nice to hear the game on 1020 today,,curious to know how many games will be on the AM.( Maybe just an opening day thing) Also what logo is under the announcer booth at PNC? I'm an optimist 82-80 this year if Pedro wakes up and the hit collector gets it down at 1st base.

I think once Steeler season begins, the Sunday Pirate games will be on AM?

--I couldn't believe the softballs the morning crew was throwing up to Coonelly. Why even have him on at all if you aren't going to mention the DUI? To top it off, he was really talking up the new Budwiser Bar. Shameless.

--I liked Orie, well spoken and knowledgable. Let's see how he holds up to the beat down of another losing season.

--Shocked to hear so many PSA's during the post game show.

--All in all, I'm very glad to have the Bucs on the Fan. Bye Bye 104 from my presets forever!

Will I be able to catch the games on TuneIn Radio for 93.7 The Fan? I was at work so couldn't check it out on Thursday. I have a feeling it will be alternate programing during games but just not sure.

Even though the Fan doesnt broadcast Steeler games, they have pre and post game Steeler shows on the Fan. Maybe they will have these on the AM side this fall?

Regardless, it remains a valid line of questioning and Coonelly remains an extremely poor mouthpiece for the organization. Many more people were tuning in for opening day than for the spring training coverage.

Agreed. Perhaps they are grooming him to join the booth when Blass hangs 'em up.
