Opening the morning of 7-21-2012

I live in Oklahoma City and am hearing Iowa NOAA Weather Radio stations on a handheld scanner, with a rubber duck. About to turn on my FM broadcast tuner, this sounds interesting.

Tropo has been opening up very well for you. You should be able to get IA or NE stations this morning on FM.

Yes, was able to hear KCSI in Red Oak, Iowa, KKOT in Columbus, NE. Also heard what I believe was KBBX in Nebraska City (Don't think it was KLVO in NM) Topeka stations came in very well too.
