NFL.com and CNNSI both report that there might be a doubleheader on opening Thursday night, September 7, one game televised by ESPN, the other by NBC. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/9231237
But ESPN and MSNBC report that the doubleheader will actually be on Monday night, both games on ESPN. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2329687
Regardless, Pittsburgh will get a home game Thursday night, September 7, since they are the Super Bowl champions, and ESPN will get a 17th game to compensate for there not being a Monday night game the last week of the season.
The NFL is also considering a regular season game in London. I heard earlier the Giants may host a game there, they would be the logical choice after getting an extra home game last year.
