Opera Music on 99.7

I was travaling back from my brothers house in West Sac for Xmas Eve on 1-80, I heard some Opera Singing on 99.7 -

I was waiting fo KMQV to come in..t was right before Vacaville & I could still get KRCX-FM on 99.9...

If it is KESC, then according to Radio-Locator, it simulcasts KUSC 91.5 down in Los Angeles, that may be a clue in identifying KESC being heard.

Sorry I think its in Davis, I've heard it a few times, next time you heard it swich over to 88.9 and compare it. I remember a few months ago you mentioned hearing the same thing

KXPR has a translator in West Sac on 99.7

Not on-air. There are only applications with the FCC right now for a 25 Watt ERP translator from KXPR (California State University, Sacramento) as well as a competing application for a commercial (?) interest (200 Watt ERP; Best Media, Inc.) on the frequency.

This is the only classical station in CA on 99.7...this would be a great catch---285 watts!

cd

The was thinking about that, but it's like 260 miles away

I would just asume Tropo day time thing

There has been some faint E-skip activity the past few days....maybe you got something in E range (900-1100 miles)?

My info came from Radio-Locator, and I believe that included all translators and boosters. I just checked Nevada, but nothing fitting the format.

Maybe..That was kinda odd hearing Opera on 99.7, It was coming in Stronge on my Sony Walkman for a few mins

Like I said, its either a translator or part 15 repeater of KXPR, next time you hear it, flip over to KXPR (88.9) and you'll hear the same thing. You mentioned hearing the same thing on the same frequency a few months ago
