Opie and Anthony rumored to replace Roth

The real BS in this deal is that DLR, who wasnt the best choice to replace howie, got the raw end of this deal. Sure, he stunk, but he didnt even get a chance to pull it together. Strikes me as odd CBS radio would want anything to do with O&A after the whole "church" incident and how they rode howie on his sirius deal(seeing O&A are on XM).

First and foremost, O&A were WITH XM before Howie signed his SIRIUS contract. Howie signed his contract in October 2004, the same month (and week if I remember right) that O&A STARTED BROADCASTING. O&A didn't ride his coattails anywhere near satellite radio. They were in negotiations with XM and SIRIUS at the same time except they ran into 500 million problems: XM wasn't willing to pay Howie SIRIUS money.

The company was totally ok with the THIRD Sex for Sam incident and only backed off because of pressure from a tiny Catholic group.

This is not the first time their XM bits have been played over the radio. This O&A in place of DLR item has been going round and round. According to O&A and Eric Logan of XM radio, the deal looked like it was all good a few months ago, but once it got into the lawyer's hands, things began to slow down and stall. The only way to find out what will happen is to sit and wait to see the latest news. Otherwise this O&A for DLR news is way old.

Hollander/CBS are screwed!

This is a bad move on CBS' part. They knew what they were getting with David Lee Roth. He was lousy DJ, but he auditioned for them many times with WBCN in Boston. He is simply doing the show that they hired him for. Yes he got dismal ratings, but that if a reflection more on CBS executives/market research department who predicted that they could sell Roth's show.

The real screw-up her is Joel Hollander. He completely miscalculated with Roth which will cost the company millions, and now desperately signing Opie and Anthony (who will plug their XM show) further hinders the long shot CBS had at winning the lawsuit against Stern. Look for Joel to be canned soon!

I'm pretty sure that the "edited" version of O & A will flop, as it will be taped and not live. There won't be any live interaction with called on CBS, and the spontanaity really gives listers a reason not to tune in.

I know DLR has a week spot on Boston radio before, was it BOS? I agree, retoolong the show twice like this jsut put the casket in the hole and startd throwing dirt in.

I hope they don't destroy the O&A show too badly. They have proven that they can massivly tone down their swearing and still have a great show...my question is content. A LOT of their jokes are just not FCC material. They will have to do a delay or purchase material from audible.com and re-edit it for broadcast. They will have to basically edit out all of Jim Norton and Patrice O'Neil hahaha!

CBS has no problem with O & A plugging XM, its apart of the deal and a nice screw you to Stern. Plus the show will be on a 1 hr tape delay and they don't take many calls to begin with.

1 hour tape delay? O&A don't start until 7...so you're saying the O&A show will start broadcasting at 8am on regular radio?

Not many calls?? I don't know what show you were listening to, but the show I listen to takes calls quite a bit. Not as many as DLR but a lot more than Stern...and none of the callers are paid for like Stern's show.

Thats very interesting!!!Then they will be carried by XM AND SIRIUS and BACK ON REGULAR RADIO!!!!!!!!! (Boy o&a are really getting quite big again)Im almost sure howard stern will want to follow!!

I disagree ???Opie & Anthony are selling out in my eyes. ::)I had XM before switching to Sirius and they said numerous timesthey would never return to free radio, ALLEGEDLY ;DSo what if they're not heard on Direct TV, do you thinks young kidsget what they're saying anyway half of the time? :pAs far as I'm concern XM shouldn't cater to them anyway. It makes no sense to hear half of the entire schedule when you get the wholething full price. :-XI had XM online and I felt ripped off because all of the channels on my normal radio weren't on the online version :eek:That's why I'm proud to be on Sirius where at least Stern is heard on SATELLITE ONLY :mad:If they want to sell out, be my guess.
