Opie & Anthony coming to South FL on 103.1 The Buzz!

In case anyone missed the rumors last week, CBS has (finally) confirmed that Opie & Anthony will take over AM Drive for David Lee Roth in 7 markets including NYC, Boston, Philly, and West Palm Beach. Their show starts this Wed. and will air from 6-9AM each day here on 103.1 the Buzz, "Florida's New Rock Alternative". As a former NYer now living in South FLorida, all I can say is "I can't wait"! I listened for years up there until they were fired...these guys are FUNNY AS HELL. Stern must be having the hissy-fit of his life right about now!

How many people in WPB actually know who O&A are besdies a few radio geeks and XM listeners? Bottom line: they may do well in cities where they were before, but they don't have the mass appeal that Stern had. I feel sorry for WPBZ, they had decent numbers and a local morning show for years and then got stuck in this CBS mess.

You have a point, but it seems to me that there's so many people here in SOuth FLorida like me who have moved from former O&A markets (like NYC, Boston, Philly, etc.) who know the show and will support it as soon as they hear that they're on the air here. If we were in Kansas City, I would agree with you 100%...then again O&A always did well when they started in new markets due to word-of-mouth and street buzz (pardon the pun).

If I was a WPBZ listener, I would have given up listening before 10am by now. How many people really know who they are? A handful in Florida? I mean, wouldn't they have gotten a ton of XM subscribers down there just for them??
