Opie & Anthony to replace Adam Carolla?

That is what I am hearing. And it will happen by or before Labor Day at 97.1 Free FM.
 
I have nothing against Adam Carolla, and think he is actually quite good, and I like Theresa Strasser, his new sidekick as well. That said, Opie & Anthony are well established shock jocks, and resemble the aura of Howard Stern more so than Adam Carolla does. If what Glenn writes proves to be true, it would be a good move for 97.1 Free FM. However, as Adam Carolla is doing quite well in Las Vegas, he will probably keep his gig there. I would like to see 97.1 air him in tape delay in place of John and Jeff during the late night/early AM hours.
 
If they cut his show, CBS will drop him in all of his markets that the company currently has him in. The other companies that have decided to run his show I guess would have the option of keeping him, but where would he do his show from and would he actually keep waking up at 4am for those smaller markets that carry him?
 
Inside Radio is reporting that CBS is saying that it strongly supports Adam Carolla.And "strongly denies" the rumors that they're considering cutting the L.A.-based Carolla if the ratings don't improve.

They also denied that Opie and Anthony would come back to CBS. Don't trust them.
 
John and Jeff aren't going anywhere, with KLSX being their flagship and making money off their self-syndication. They're especially not going anywhere for an 18-hour old morning show that people can't call into.
 
Well since the Inside Radio rumor about Carolla and CBS' denial the very next day, nothing else has come out about Carolla's future. I know it was just 1 month out of the latest trend, but with O&A doing great in NYC compared to Roth's final 2 months, how long do they continue to give Carolla a chance before they decide to put O&A on every free fm station?
 
I'm not hating on Carolla but I just dont think he is funny.
 
Carolla does sound good in my opinion, and he brings a non-radio vibe to the show. But CBS will do whatever they need to do to bring in revenue on many of their sinking properties, and that will include a huge investment in O&A. Again, I love Adam, but O&A are better and CBS knows it.

I'd hate to see CBS fall into the Howard Stern trap that they fell into before. They can't be so dependent on one morning show.
