Opie & Anthony to Replace Corolla?

It's on the InsideRadio.com website today... labelled as a rumor. Adam Carolla may be running out of time.West Coast advertising buyers say they’re being told by sales reps that CBS is only giving Carolla “another month or two” to improve ratings — or his show will be cut. Some agency folks tell Inside Radio' they’re also being told CBS is considering putting Opie and Anthony on the Carolla stations.

Nice to see that though Stern took years to develop - Adam Corolla has been given a 3 inch leash to fill his shoes. If the rumor is true, it must be full panic-time at CBS. The Stern revenue is gone...forget about replacing it next quarter and build the old fashion way with a consistent, well done radio program over a period of time sufficent to generate an audience. Amazingly short sighted!

JDW, you hit it right on the head. Maybe I'm the only Adam Carolla listener in town but I think he's the perfect mix of "morning zoo", celebrity interviews and offbeat news commentary. Loveline was a great showcase for Adam, but unfortunately Dr. Drew and the callers had to keep butting in. I've had XM ever since O&A started there, and I prefer to listen to Carolla. I'll flip into O&A for the weekend replays and find it sophomorically and gratuitously explicit - something Stern never sunk to. And they called Stern a shock jock? He was very real and clever, not the idiot rants of a couple of Jerky Boys.I've just recently seen bus boards and billboards go up promoting Carolla. Give it a chance! Program directors can't possibly be that short-sighted ... although short lived! Could it be the new End PD wants a clean start? Carolla ain't no David Lee Roth. Hope Adam sticks around in mornings.

DK--I don't think you're the only listener. ;) I like Adam as well. Now that we don't have R&M in the mornings, Carolla is the only thing I listen to. I'd hate to imagine if he got yanked so quickly.

Inside Radio is reporting that CBS says it strongly supports Adam Carolla. And "strongly denies" the rumors that they're considering cutting the L.A.-based Carolla if the ratings don't improve.

Didn't CBS issue a similar press release the day after rumors about DLR started swirling? They strongly supported him as well. How much longer did he last?

AMEN. I now listen to Adam every morning too. Until R&M are back.
I listen to corolla (26), my wife listens (27) , most of my friends listen to corolla (25-30), a handful of my coworkers (25-50) listen. He is no David Lee Roth, he has talent. CBS would be FOOLISH to take him off so early before he gets a strong audience.
