Oprah in HD?

Not sure if this has been brought up yet:

But when will "the richest woman in America" finally producer her show in HD?
And when/if she does, will stations continue to pay the same syndication costs?

Thanks

I don't know about Oprah, but I heard Dr. Phil will be going in HD this fall....

"Oprah" will also be in HD starting this fall. Also going HD this fall are "Entertainment Tonight", "The Insider", and "Ellen".

However, many (most?) local markets won't have the ability to air syndicated programming in HD yet. Even those stations that air their local news in HD often don't have the ability to record program-length material in HD.

It could be worse. Her best friend, Gayle King, was an anchor/features reporter here with WFSB-TV (CBS) channel 3 of Hartford from 1981 to 1999. WFSB has aired Oprah's show here since it started nationally in 1986. I bet Gayle is the reason why!

Seriously, WFSB doesn't air anything locally in HD. No other station in our market does either...Unless you count WTXX-DT (CW) of Waterbury/Hartford carrying Yankees games in HD from WWOR-DT in New York. Does the Yankees baseball coverage count as syndication?

I hope Rachael Ray start's airing in High Definition this fall
