Oprah in Primetime?

I'm not sure when this is going to happen...but KTVK-3 here in Phoenix has announced that they will be airing Oprah at 3pm (as they currently do) with an encore showing at 9pm.

Obviously, since KTVK is an Independent, they have the option of running a syndicated program at 9pm. Are there any other Independents running Oprah in Primetime? What about Eastern/Pacific Time Zone affiliates airing the show at 7pm? (BTW, KTVK currently airs Dr. Phil at 7pm.)

UPN-16 Rockford (or was it UPN Madison, I get both on the digital receiver at work) airs it @ 9pm which is an encore showing from their sister OTA station. (Both UPNs are digital-tv / cable only stations)

Also, let's not forget the Viacom-Owned UPN stations. Virtually ALL of those air BOTH Oprah & Dr. Phil in Primetime as well.

Radio? Uhh.....What's THAT?? :)

I think that for a network affiliate, "Oprah" could work in the 7-8 P.M. (ET/PT) hour. It would attract the desirable "soccer mom" demographic (women 25-54), and more women in that prime demo might stick around for the network's prime-time schedule.

It probably would be the top-rated program in the market during that particular timeslot.

If enough network affiliates ran "Oprah" in the 7-8 P.M. ET/PT hour, it probably would become far and away the number-one syndicated show.

Interesting theory. I wonder what would happen to other programming. WLS-TV runs Oprah at 9am. When Oprah tookover AM Chicago that was the time slot. WLS-TV greatly dominates the day's TV activities and a large part of this is credited to Oprah.

I would guess in other markets where Oprah runs late afternoon she helps deliver the high ratings to local news, which are the big money makers for local ads.

I wonder how much local programming such as news would suffer?
______________

In Seattle, KONG-16 runs both "Dr. Phil" and "Oprah" in prime time(8 to 10pm).

If its Madison, its the one run by WISC-3.

Not all of them. Most of the "Oprah"s air on non-CBS/Viacom(both CBS and UPN) stations, especially in markets where they compete:

ABC/Disney
WABC-7(New York)
WLS-7(Chicago)
KABC-7(Los Angeles)
WPVI-6(Philadelphia)
KGO-7(San Francisco)

Scripps-Howard
WXYZ-7(Detroit)
WPTV-5(West Palm Beach)

Belo
WFAA-8(Dallas)
KVUE-24(Austin)
KING-5(Seattle)
WVEC-13(Norfolk)

McGraw-Hill
KMGH-7(Denver)

Hearst-Argyle
WTAE-4(Pittsburgh)
WCVB-5(Boston)
KCRA-3(Sacramento)
WBAL-11(Baltimore)

Clear Channel
KTVX-4(Salt Lake City)

The only CBS/Viacom stations airing "Oprah" are WCCO/Minneapolis-St.Paul, WFOR/Miami and WFRV/Green Bay.

The Cox-owned "Action" independents in Orlando and Charlotte air Oprah in prime time. I also believe KFWD-52 in Dallas/Fort Worth is also doing the same, on loan from WFAA.

Dr. Phil airs at 7pm on KCAL in Los Angeles (one-week delay), while sister KCBS airs the first run shows at 4pm.

That would be UPN 14 Madison, WISC's UPN station. Rockford's UPN is run by WTVO, and Oprah airs over on WIFR and has for years. Ironically though, WTVO was Oprah's first syndicated home in 1986 before she moved to WIFR a year later.

I think WTVO/UPN have Dr. Phil, though.

WAXN (Action 64) is the Cox independent station in Charlotte. Not only do they air Oprah, at 9, but they also air Dr. Phil before that at 8. Its sister Cox station is WSOC, I don't know if it is the same episodes that they air (Dr. Phil at 10, Oprah at 4) or not. Off topic, but WAXN shares a studio with Channel 9 on Tryon Street and airs a 10pm newscast produced by WSOC.
