Oprah's Plan To Go Out On Top Not Going According To Plan

As the February sweeps period opens, the ratings for Oprah were not very kind. While she still led the pack of daytime talkers, "The Oprah Winfrey Show" had a 16% decline from the previous period:

I guess she's picking the right time to wrap up her show and concentrate on her new OWN network - which, as was recently reported here, garnered less of an audience than its predecessor, Discovery Health.

Apparently her stunts are backfiring on her here (long lost sister, Oprah and Gayle's trip to Australia, etc. etc) so be thankful her and her stunts will be gone from syndication in September and will be on her own show on a network that's only shown on Digital TV and not on basic cable.

Apparently, when Oprah announced she was going bye-bye, some of the audience decided to leave early and beat the crowd out of the theater.

I understand Discovery Communications has sunk another $50 million into her "OWN" cable network, why?,
Discovery would have been better off investing in their other services than put it into a channel that isn't
going anywhere fast, even if the new shows debut in the coming months, the chances of it surviving are
slim and none.
