Optimod 8100 vs BW TX150

We are finally getting a new XMTR. Broadcast Warehouse TX150.

I'm not quite sure if we are better off using the new XMTR's audo processing features, or to continue using our Optimod 8100?

Opinions?

Thanks!

By all means, continue to use the Optimod.. The onboard processor on the BW all in-one's is not multiband and you'll never be competitive. Disable the BW processing completely and use the composite out from the Optimod to feed the TX MPX input..

Do an A/B comparison and see what sounds better..

The on board limiter in the TX150 can actually go quite loud and on some program material sounds pretty competetive. The problem, as with all single band limiters is that some program material can make the limiter pump.

Why not ask BW for a deal on a DSPX. You will probably get a great deal on a DSPX if bought with a TX150. You could always buy a DSPXtra and get a TX150 for nothing :) Still on cloud nine as just had my first child so happy to offer great deals to you guys for a while.

Best regards
Scott

Is it easy to do disable the onboard TX150 audio processing?

Also, we have 1 BNC cable coming from the Optimod now. That would feed directally into the tranismitter now?

Should I have to make any other adjustments to either the new transmitter or the Optimod?

Also, can anyone recomed any low cost power protection solultions? The old manegment had everything plugged directally into the wall, but I am unsure if the transmitter and audio processor can be plugged into a surge protector? Would a UPS be better?

Thanks

That's an improvement. I remember having to jeep a composite feed directly in the modulator in order to bypass the on-bard processor/ stereo geni in an old model B/W transmitter. That one wouldn't make rated power, either.

A UPS would provide good surge protection, and many office supply stores have good deals on various sizes. Of course, don't expect it to hold up the transmitter for all that long during a power outage.

Must have been one of the first LOW_COST units we made about five or six years back when we first started. What model was it out of interest?

Definitely stay with the 8100, hands down.

You shouldn't have to make any changes to the overall dynamics on the Optimod, but you will probably have to change output modulation and your pilot injection levels depending on the sensitivity of the new equipment.

Good luck and congrats!

Optimod 8100 cards

What were the optional cards for the 8100's

Was the blue colbalt the only one? Wasn't there a bass enhancement card?

Thanks
