Optimod 8100A Front Panel Key

I just take the 3 screws out of the front panel and fold it down. Those keys always vanished.

I don't think the GE keys were double-sided. You may be thinking of a Motorola 2135 key by Chicago Lock. It looks like an Optimod key, but I don't know if they are the same.

They're all the same. As already suggested, leave those 3 Allen screws loose enough that you can remove them with your greenie screwdriver and still keep most people locked out.

Yeah... I know I can do that, but that's like having to remove the front clip on your car to check the oil! Just unacceptable and annoying!

I wish I could get one out of one of those "boat anchors" listed on ebay... You know, the Optimod TV stereo generators and SAP processors.

Yep. You can also find locks that will fit that at your home improvement shop. Just change them all and buy the same key code. Added security AND a new lock :)

It must be a common lock and key.. Hell SODA pop towers use the exact same key.. If you have a extra with you, go to your local gas station and mess with someone by shutting it off :D

The front panel key on the various Orban TV stereo generators, or SAP generators use the same front panel key. Also, some of the cards are similar to 8100 cards, notably card 3/4 and 5.

I still keep one on my key ring. I encounter lots of old Optimods in my travels AND it also starts up our church organ.

Hi, Don. I've never seen you post here.

And I meant to call you first to see if you knew what happened to ours...

By the way, the gentleman who just posted is Don Perkins... our REAL engineer. I'm just the wannabe evening jock who happens to have the key to the transmitter shack! (and permission to make occasional tweaks)
