Optimod 8182a for Streaming

Hey I'm hoping some of you guys can help. I picked up an 8182a recently that I'm hoping to use on my steam. I know the audio coming from the jacks at the rear is pre-emphasized at 25µs and is no good, I've tested the output audio coming from the screw in strip jacks and it sounds very flat so I'm assuming it is audio that's not hitting the limiters?

Is there an easy way to get de-emphasized audio from the jacks that I can run to my encoder?

The pre-emphasis is 75µs. the same as FM radio.
Analog TV has 25kHz deviation. FM has 75kHz deviation.
Why not disable the pre-emphasis in the unit?

I've heard I can do this on card 7 but I'm not sure of the process, is it a simple change of jumpers or do I need to get out the soldering iron?

I don't recall. Take a look at the card, if there are jumpers, the circuit board might be marked, indicating the amount of pre-emphasis. The Terminals are the output of the processor. That is what you should use to feed your encoder.

You can get the manual here:
ftp://ftp.orban.com/8182A/8182A_Manual_Section_1-7.pdf

Go to pdf page 33. There are two jumpers which allow you to bypass the pre-emphasis.

Have fun!
