Optimod 8200 for sale

Doing some quick math thanks to google, in U.S. dollars that equates to roughly $3,800 for a unit that was state of the art in 1992. Not exactly a good deal.

Especially if you've ever demoed Breakaway Broadcast. You really can afford 1 second of delay to sound so good for so little.
Think how much money would be left over to buy backup computer hardware and auto-switching/dropout backup audio path.

If someone wants it for its EXACT sound and nature, god bless 'em.
Woe unto someone who listens to something different or newer and thinks they can make the 8200 wag that way just because they have some magical skill in adjustments.
It will still be what it is. Nirvana to some, bane to others.

Those are some powerfully true words. Put BBP on New York, Range & Power at 100, Speed at 13 & Final Drive at -3.6 and punch the buttons on the Bose Wave Radio & listen to it blow Omnia 6's & Orban 8500's out of the water. It really, honestly is that good. Can't wait for the standalone BBP product. I just can't tell my clients it's time to let a desktop computer & software do the mission critical processing job no matter how good it sounds. When the rack mounted dedicated BBP arrives (and I understand it is still active), the processing world is going to look a wee bit different.

Nice sound, I like it. And yes, by all means, please customize the "New York" preset so it's not as loud all the time. It's literally pushing Breakaway very close to the max. Even if it's not distorting at all at "stock" settings, it's still ... more than my personal preference finds most enjoyable even if I'm going for a "balls to the wall" sound. It's there because it had to be done. ;)

And of course it'll still rely on standardized hardware (in function), but you'll get the awesome support that comes with such a device too. You probably *could* swap out something like the mainboard in it, if you were in a jam and the industrial-grade mainboard in it failed (not likely for a good 30-50 years, and i wouldn't be surprised to see century old models running, like... if i live to be 140 years old, lol) and you couldn't quite wait for an overnight box. It's just another option to have with the Breakaway box, one that could turn a silent night into minutes... and more options = good.

Leif's hardware box is very much still active. Not even considering the audio itself, the box has a LOT to offer that nothing else does yet. It's going to twist a few heads, without a doubt.

Jesse, what's your relationship to Breakaway?

Other than being a good friend of Leif's, and giving my ideas and creating a few presets for it (free of charge), there wasn't a "professional" connection until I coded the RDS component for his new framework as a contractor. This happened only about a week ago by the way. I don't recall if it was before or after I posted that last post, but yes. Good to disclose now that it's the case, since there's some drama lately about who does what with who, who's sleeping with their cousin's half-sisters, etc. "Jerry, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry..."

He has also asked me in the past to work for him in sales/support, and I know I could do a good job, but I turned him down. It may change in the future, in which case everyone will know since I would be an official employee. As of now, I'm not officially an employee. Hopefully that's clear enough for anyone that cares. 8)

Can I ask who you are?
