Optimod 9100 vs. DSPX-Mini AM

We have a 9100 on one of our AM stations that we are very happy with. Our second AM does not have one. It has a rack consisting of way too many devices.

Anyone have any experience with the mini-AM? Will it work well on a News/Talk format? Is it even remotely comparable to the quality of the good old 9100 Analog?

Heard good things about the mini AM.I believe Mike at SCMS has some of these boxes.Get a demo. The Mini SE FM Goran developed sounds great ,hangs with boxes costing 2 and 3x as much. These Orban boxes are just legendary, hard to give one up...

We just want to put a single processor on the talk AM, but do not have the budget for even a used 9100. I wish we did, our expanded band sounds great with that 9100.

I just want to know if the AM Mini X has a good Talk radio preset.

Thanks for that last response. If it sounds even close to our other AM, everyone will be happy.

I will order it tomorrow.

I suppose the only question will be whether to place it before or after the analog stl.

Personally i like the processor at the xmtr but it should work ok at the studio.SCMS was an early distributor on the BW products,i've used several including dsp x and dsp-extra.I know they had some great deals going awhile back. The Mini SE FM was less than 1200.00..Not sure on the Mini AM..Good luck..

I have both units and will tell you that the Mini blows away the 9100!

You need to let everyone know you are a representative of BW processors. Of course you'll reply this way.

BTW, if anyone is interested in a complete CRL Systems AM Stereo processing setup (AGC, Spectral Energy Compressor, and Matrix limiter) in good shape at a great price, feel free to contact me. Also see my thread here with the details.

I have known Dana for a number of years. He has great ears. Yes, he can be very enthusiastic, but I have never known him to lie.

FWIW, I have read notes from others who have also commented favorably on the sound of his station; persons whose ears I also trust. My conclusion is that, even taking the most cynical view, it would be safe to assume that Dana's station is holding its own against a number of much more powerful outlets.

Kind Regards,
David

Has anyone had time to compare the BW stuff against the Telos One AM, the Vorbis Am processors, and the Breakaway software on a PC? I'd like to know which one of these systems really is the better option for music radio these days...

It should be easy to get a no-obligation loan of each of the products above. Try them all and make your decision based on your experience with each product.

Let me know if you have any questions on the DSPX-AM and DSPXmini-AM products and i'll do my best to assist.
