Optimod-AM 9200 / Processing Suggestions

Looking for some suggestions on "reprogramming" this unit. Station is news-talk with CRL APP-400 @ the studio pre-processing. Gating turned off in the CRL. Analog STL into the gated 9200 @ the transmitter. Transmitter is a Gates One operating on the high side of the band into a single stick. The current preset is a custom one. While the on-air signature is loud, my ears tell me it has some kind of issue in the 200 Hz range which makes it very fatiguing. Also, any music bumps or commercials with music sound terribly "squashed". The custom preset restricts audio to 5kHz (which I disagree with but the Engineering Director, who original set this up, obviously doesn't).

Don't know much about the 9200 other than you want the Version 3 software. Be sure it has it, Greg Preset seems to be popular with these. Perhaps go with the stock preset and bump up the less more to around 8. I think you can't go wrong with lots of multiband drive, 17-19 with a talk format. Maybe a medium Fast release so you don't get that wall of sound. So many AM station sound terrible because they think loudness is the main thing. While it's important, who going to be listening beyond your .5 contour anyway. Lets kill the city grade audio so you can reach somebody that's not there! :-\
