Options Other Than Like

I've liked a lot of posts up here and I've liked a lot of posts up here. Others, I've thought were funny, with such responses such as hahaha (or however it's spelled) and I'd like to respond other ways than just like, because sometime, that's not strong enough or not the right feeling, if you know what I mean. I am a newby at this and please pardon my ignorance, but where are the other responses located, love, hahaha, sad, etc?

Softly hold the like the button. They'll pop up.

How do you softly hold the like button? That's a serious question, since all I see is like. For the record, I am totally blind and am using Firefox with the NVDA screen reader oh and just a keyboard.

Oh. I didn't know, I believed you were using mobile. On computer, if you have a computer mouse or a touchpad, you just press and hold on the "Like" button until the other expressions appear. I'm not sure if the screen reader will read them or not.

I did some checks using Firefox's accessibility tools, and I do not think it is possible to react with "Love", "Haha", "Sad" without using a mouse.

Using Firefox, I can use the tab key to activate the button labeled "Like". When I do so, the software will show a list of other reactions. But I can't find anyway to reach that list to select one using only the keyboard.

The RadioDiscussions site uses XenForo as its back-end. If you have a group that discusses screen reader problems, that detail would be helpful for them.

And Lance has said many times in the past several months that he is not interested in making significant changes to a platform (XenForo) that he intends to replace.

Any such discussion as this is dead before it begins.

Thanks for the troubleshooting and subsequent reply. I don't see any option other than like, as well. The only discussion site I use is this one, so no go on the screen reader discussion, although in this case, such would be helpful.

I understand and all due respect, it says ask the moderators, so that's why I did. I have noticed some improvements even over the past few days, formatting and such, things looking better and I like those, just asking about this because it is of concern to me as a user and yes, I am given the option to ask, as anybody else is, too.

Of course you have that right, as do we all. It's just that anything suggesting changes to the board software will already have an undertaker standing by as soon as you hit the "post" button. 😜

I inherited this software with the site from the late Frank Berry. There are a lot of things that do not work as intended and we're slowly working through how to get it moved onto a better platform. The site database is immense and import/export is not the simplest.

Unfortunately this is one of the things I do not have an answer for as I do not believe the software developers properly built it.

You don't have to hold it. Just hover the mouse over it.

But for Josh's use, it would possibly be a long click of the like button perhaps to bring up the others.

To @lanceventa and others:
For the record (and as a totally blind person, I should know) what is being referred to as the "Like" button using a desktop with Firefox is actually a link and when you press that link, it automatically creates a "like" graphic on the post.

@Josh Owens, One thing you might try with this sight (I actually haven't done it myself) is to use a different browser, such as Microsoft Edge (many of whose commands are similar to the commands used by the discontinued Internet Explorer) and/or Chrome. It is possible that using either of these two browsers (or even some minor players) that the keyboard entries not available in Firefox may be available in any one of them. Good luck!

As a totally blind person myself, I can tell all of you that what you are referring to as the "Like" button is really a link in Firefox. And pressing the enter key on that link automatically creates the "Like" graphic with the word "like" being read by the screenreader.

@Josh Owens:
One idea I would recommend (I should have recommended it before but I haven't done it myself) is to view this site using a different browser (Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome immediately come to mind). It turns out that different browsers have different quirks and it is possible that what is not available through Firefox might be available through another browser. Good luck!

Correct. But the option is supposed to give you the option between six emjois like on Facebook and other social media platforms including Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sad and Angry. While they do nothing to change the posts they are there and should be available for everyone. Once we change platforms that will be the case...

Thank you for your honest response and suggestion. The first is refreshing and I'll try the second, first chance I get. I enjoy the site and would appreciate the opportunity to enjoy it at it's fullest, as things get upgraded and problems get worked out/through. I will help any way I can and furthermore, trust that my content herein is a help to someone in some way, whether serious or funny.

Thanks, Lance and I look forward to it. I appreciate the formatting upgrades I've seen even over the past couple days and look forward to further/future upgrades and subsequent site usage.

I liked this one and then forgot to reply. Thanks for the helpful input and suggestion. I don't trust Edge, but will try Chrome, once again, first chance I get.

Many other board are slowly migrating from XenForo to other platforms or even a custom built one. I think (my memory may be wrong) you mentioned you wanted to have this board and RI running off the same platform or one log-in.
