Opus/Radio People flip flop?

I just heard that Rob Lloyd left Opus to go back to Radio People. Chris Collins personally hired him back after posting some mean and nasty comments on this very forum about Rob being an "older" man trying to play hip-hop on 103.1 The Party. Now he wants and hires him back? Did The Party hurt him that bad? Why the flip-flop, Chris? What gives? And about Rob--is it all about the almighty buck? And I mean this from both perspectives--when he left RP and went to Opus and now for going back. This type of behavior by all involved confuses listeners and gives all radio folks a black eye.

You are correct that I hired him back... Although to Majic 97, not The Beat. Rob fits the Urban AC format well and we both agreed that our disagreement was behind us. Everybody needs a second chance and I believe I was in a position to give Rob some things Opus would not, as well as put him back in the format he thrives in.

In all honesty, I might hire more people from them. No, they have not hurt us. I just like messing with them. It's competition... What I've always done. Look at my history and what happens in the other markets I consult. I like to win.

And it doesn't hurt that all of their people (Party People... no pun intended) will work for me in a heartBEAT.

Chris

Wow, Chris. I have defended you in the past to people that say how arrogant and egocentric you are. Damn, you proved us all wrong with this thread. I made a call to find out the truth with no spin--here it is:

Rob Lloyd left, hired back by you after you slammed him on this very forum.
DJ Star was fired for the same thing you fired Rob for. T lay is a 10 hour a week employee at the Party and you offered him a good deal full time deal with benefits. Who wouldn't take that? That's good for him. You portray these moves as rats leaving a sinking ship when actually they are bettering themselves. Just as Rob did when you fired him the first time. By the way, what are you going to offer Fast Eddie? DJ Shadow of the South who turned your offer down? The mid-day girl Jordan? You see no problem sacrificing those "pawns" to "win" your chess game. problem is, those pawns are good people. Don't f*** with their careers. The truth is The Party has been a headache for you or you wouldn't be recognizing their ability to build talent that you hire away. What if they do it again with this new batch?

It's obvious this "power" has gone to an excellent programmer's head. I would say "respected" programmer, but I'm sad to say that has quite a dent in it thanks to your recent posts.

Where should I start my rebuttle?

First of all, I'm not interested in hiring Eddie... He's a good jock, just belongs on a rhythmic.

Secondly, I don't know why Star was fired and he doesn't work for me atm.

I had already talked to tlay and had been interested in him for a potential opening. I made him an honest offer and let him make the choice. I'm happy with my staff and I do believe tlay will add to it. He's a good kid and if there's one thing I've never done is hire someone to hurt them. It happened to me early in my radio career and I would never do that to another person.

The mid day girl at party is voicetracked and from what I understand more educated in rock than urban.

BTW I don't even know who dj shadow is... much less would I want to hire someone I have never heard of...
