Orban licenses Axia?

It just goes to show how widespread Livewire is as a AoIP system and how much momentum Axia has been able to generate in the broadcast market.

There was a press release a couple of months ago that Studer has licensed Livewire as well, and will incorporate it in their digital broadcast consoles. This may not mean a lot to US broadcasters, but it is a huge deal in the European market where Studer has been very well established for decades.

Don't read more into this press release than actually exists. We bought a low-cost Livewire license so that we could do a detailed technical evaluation of Livewire technology compared to other audio over IP systems. We have not yet committed to incorporating this or any other audio over IP I/O into an actual product, although we are certainly aware of the increased popularity of these systems and the fact that some of our customers want them.

All else being equal, Orban always prefers adopting standards-based technologies, as we did with MPEG4 HE-AAC for streaming.

Bob,

We're look forward to your evaluation of Livewire. It's always been our intention to see this tech become universal. We're getting closer. In the future, you can look to see Livewire compatibility with Ravenna, which has the support and backing of Lawo.

I don't own it right now ... but in knowledge gained from all the folks that are using AoIP type systems... Livewire seems to be the winner when it comes to being the best. If I am ever able to round up the cash for my little station I plan to put in a small livewire based console.
