Orginal CKGM Montreal

This is a AM radio guy from Northern Vermont and grew up in St. Albans that
was lucky to be close enought to be in the umbrella of the Montreal Radio and TV
signals. Does anybody remember the famous CKGM at 980 AM that came on the air
I think in 1959. Anybody have any thoughts and chatter about this station from that
era.

Can't recall as far back as '59 but I was on staff during the resurgence of the rock format in early spring 1970 and worked the all nite show till just after the FLQ Crisis concluded and I could find another job in December.... getting bomb threats during your shift wasn't all that much fun, so moved to the east coast for a couple of years before heading west to Vancouver.

There is nice CKGM Tribute page at .. http://www.marcdenis.com/ckgm.asp

Regards,
Lee

I grew up in Clinton County on the New York side of the Quebec border and was a CKGM listener too. If you could pick up Montreal Island's other Top 40 station of the day - CFOX, you might want to check out the tribute page that Marc Denis has to that station too: www.marcdenis.com/cfox
