Original H-5-O 'Danno', James McArthur, dead at 72

Very sorry to hear of his passing. I think all of the original cast is gone now.

Regarding paragraphs 6 and 7, I'll bet you a pineapple that Scott Caan will be saying the same
thing by next August.

That very brief obit doesn't do justice to MacArthur. Wiki has a much more thorough catalog of his career.

But to die at 72 of 'natural causes'? Something isn't being disclosed I suspect. It couldn't be heartbreak from watching the current H 5-0.....could it?

That's too bad. I read on here not too long ago that James MacArthur was quoted as saying he was enjoying the new version of the show and he was considering a cameo appearance when the time was right. I was looking forward to that.

It always lends credibility to a remade TV show (or movie) if someone from the original is willing to make a cameo appearance in the remake.

As recently as 1991, age 72 was the exact average life expectancy for male Americans. now it's around 78 - a big increase in 19 years. But death at 72 of natural causes is hardly unusual. Also, families of the deceased often report the death to be of "natural causes" when they just want privacy. It doesn't necessarily denote anything weird or bizarre.

My comment was made in somewhat of a jest. Of course I understand that "natural causes" can cover a wide area of undisclosed issues but considering MacArthur was a good athlete in his youth and appears to have kept that status into his later years make me believe it isn't the whole story.

And while I am no statistics expert I would think the lifespan in question applying here would be those dying of "natural causes" and not the population in general.
