Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong spot as Washington/Baltimore doesn't have their own board for TV so I am posting this topic here. Why are the Baltimore Orioles now on MASN instead of Comcast Sports Mid Atlantic this season? That is going to be hard for MASN as their now going to have both the Nationals and now the Orioles. I know CSN Mid Atlantic will lose money as they aren't going to be able to show much without the Orioles.

Where are the O's on radio this year?
Aren't they on WHFS?

Since I cannot receive WHFS, I wouldn't know. I could always get WBAL, which is where the games belong.

Don't mean to be a nitpicker, but the games "belong" to whichever station buys the rights to air them. CBS did so, and now the games "belong" on WHFS. You can't seriously believe that one station has more of a right to air the games than another. If you can't hear WHFS, tune in another affiliate. If there's not another affiliate where you are, then it would appear demand isn't that high for the O's in your area.

The fact is there are not any stations available anymore for an O's affiliate. They were on WILM for a year or two, then WNRK which no longer exists. WWTX and WDOV have the Blue Rocks, WDEL has the Phillies. There's nothing left. WBAL gives coverage to the most area. The games belong on the station with the best signal.
I agree with WTUX the Orioles belong on WBAL just as the Cardinals should be on KMOX and the Braves on WSB, the Pirates on KDKA, Tigers on WJR, Twins on WCCO etc. At least the Cubs are still on WGN and the Reds are still on WLW.
I'm sure the owners and programmers of all those stations are so glad to hear that you would force them to air something they have a choice to purchase or not purchase. Using your theory, Rush Limbaugh also would "belong" on all those stations because of their signals. Let's force them all to do that too!
Who gets to determine what "belongs"? The programmers and owners. When I owned a radio station, I chose the programming and lived and died by my choices (profit and loss). Same goes for the big guys. No station wants to air something that doesn't help make a profit. Baseball doesn't always make a profit for stations.

The Orioles pulled their broadcasts off WBAL because it aired promos for the Ravens -- the local NFL team -- during baseball games. That's why the Birds are now on FM Talk 105.7.
Also, the Orioles and Nationals both use MASN and have since last season. When one club is on MASN the other can be seen on MASN2.

When the Orioles dumped WBAL in favor of 105.7 I know some of the rural radio stations that carried the Orioles weren't happy. Mainly because when WBAL aired the Orioles the games were automated, I don't think its the case with 105.7.
I have to wonder why thats the reason a few of the affiliates have since dropped them?
Martinsburg, West Virginia's WEPM-AM radio made a BIG deal about the Orioles switching stations from what I heard for that very reason. They have them this year but I doubt they will carry them in 2009.
