(drum roll, please) For New Smyrna Beach, as of December, 2005, here are the Top 6 daytime AM signals from the Orlando metropolitan area...
#1... 540, WFLF, with a stronger signal than any Daytona AM (Daytona stations are historically considered to be *almost* local stations by New Smyrnans).
#2... 1030, WONQ, almost as strong as WFLF, and less susceptible to some kinds of AM noise. Again, depending on location, as strong or stronger than WROD.
#3... 740, WQTM, solid in NSB.
#4... 580, WDBO, historically the strongest Orlando AM signal in NSB, eclipsed in recent years by the upgrades listed above.
#4... 990, WDYZ, a virtual tie for the historical Radio WHOO this signal greatly improved with the 10,000 to 50,000 watt upgrade in 1968(?).
#6... 950, WTLN, the upgrade made a noticeable improvement for the former Channel 95, WLOF, Orlando, the Action Center of Florida. Your WLOF Much More Music Time (twin tones)... 10:00. I'm Bill Vermillion.
