Who's managing WTIR AM these days?
______________

> Who's managing WTIR AM these days?
> WTIR, Traveler's Information Radio is being managed by Paul Walker. He was hired shortly before the untimely death of CE Steve DeLay. He is following through with a number of projects that had been implemented by the late Mr. DeLay as well as dealing with the day to day operations. As the format is expanded to a network feed around the state his title and responsibilities will no doubt change.

Just listened to this station on the turnpike last weekend, interesting mix of tourist news and tourist advertisements
Edited by TheBeat on 06/10/05 09:41 PM.

I thought WTIR stopped the tourist info format a few years ago. Wasn't it then religious or Spanish or something? Maybe I'm thinking of another station.

WTIR started on 1680 AM with coverage along the I-4 corridor. A few years after it started up the owner of the station Rama Communications (owner of WOKB, WOKB satellite station WNTF 1580 in Bithlo and WOKB-LP TV 7) decided to flip 1680 to Spanish and flip former WOKB satellite station the former WXXU 1300 in Cocoa Beach and it started to be targeted towards Brevard County though most of the signs were changed along I-4 to say 1300 AM instead of 1680 AM but there are a few signs still out there that say 1680 AM on them. Problem is there's little if any signal on I-4 for 1300 AM.

I believe they were going to expand the service even further to another sister station (1410 AM) in Leesburg for Turnpike coverage in Lake and Sumter counties.

I guess the owners, or whoever Paul Walker's boss is, doesn't watch "The People's Court"! Or did he not send THEM the Press Release he sent everyone else about his appearance on the popular legal program? Even YOU maximumradio, made a big hoopla about it on the CT Board, and since you say he's in this market, why didn't you mention it here, in the market where he works, so the folks could get to know more about him? AllAccess also had a blurb about it. Yes Orlando, you have a People's Court Celebrity working in this very market!
