OSU Football radio broadcast history

Read somewhere ( maybe it was a VH1 special ) that back in the day the OSU football games were broadcast " on every sttaion in Columbus ". Now I know it couldn;t have been all.

Anyone got any history on this?

When did they stop the multiple broadcasts and just assign the rights to one station?

Who were the stations that carried the games?

thanks

Prior to WTVN beign awarded the rights to all home games I believe in 1973, OSU football was carried on WBNS, WMNI, WRFD, WBBY, WSPO and WOSU.

thanks

I was expecting 1960s when they put on one station. Musta been something in those days.

So did each station have it's own play by play team?

Yes. PBP was Bert Charles for WSPO, Martin Petree for WMNI, Bill Corely for WBNS until 1972 then Ted Mullins, Jim Martin for WBBY and Ed Johnson early 70's then Stan Savran for WRFD, Marv Holman for WOSU. Don't remember the color folks.

The very same.

He also did high school basketball on WNCI when WRFD and WNCI were colocated.
