Monday September 12 at 8:00PM on KING-TV. Yes, Bill Nye will be on hand. The show's final ten years(1989-1999) will be covered. Unfortunately Ross Shafer(host from 1984-1988) won't be there. No Ballard Vice. I apologize for the off topic nature of this post, but what is your favorite Almost Live moment? The Louie, Louie campaign is one of mine. The April 1, 1989 prank is another memorable moment.
______________

ESPRESSO BABIES!!!!!!

Favorite occasional skit: Mind your Manners, with Billy Kwan. I also enjoyed the 'Cops' episodes from Mercer Island and Redmond, where you get arrested for playing football in the park as opposed to hacky sack or frisbee.

www.king5.com has something on their site which features video clips. That's all that I've been able to find. I would like to see DVD's of this show released in the future. I wonder if there are any petitions out there for AL DVD's? If there are, I'll gladly sign 'em. BTW, I also remember the "theme" show from the Ross Shafer years in which Ross interviewed Aaron Brown from KING-TV at the time(self promotion), "Downtown" Freddie Brown from the Sonics, and Charlie Brown from KUBE. I wish I had that one on tape. Gary "Lockjock" Lockwood appeared as a guest in 1986(his 10th anniversary at KJR-AM). That one I do have on tape. As I recall Shafer filled in for LJ on occasion prior to taking over afternoons on KJR in 1986. Wish I could track down a few Ross Shafer airchecks.
______________

Anything with Nancy Guppy - what a cutey pie she is! Meeeooowww ;) GO CAPABLE WOMAN - What a GREAT costume that was!!

Anyone remember when then Gov. Booth Gardner sat in with the band, playing guitar?

One of my favorite skits had to be either "Cops in (Ballard, Kent, Mercer Island)"
or the angry kiddy folk singer.

Shafer WILL be featured...

Been told there will be a few "clips" of Shafer from the old show
during the reunion special, but Ross was NOT there during the taping...

..and it's only going to be an HOUR long (approx 50 minutes w/commercials)-
....waaaaay too short IMHO...
============================================
Fave Skits: "Man On The Street"
- people are interviewed being asked about 10 short questions in which the they respond to each - saying only ONE word - then when Cashman says: "to clarify what you JUST heard", those words are 'edited' together (in no particluar order), forming into what becomes a hilarious statement -

I don't have any examples of these to jot down right now, but they're classic bits -

Cashman never did these kind of skits for RADIO - when fans (I know of) pleaded him to do so -

Pat's "DJ COP" and "DJ DENTIST" are also classics....who else among the cast could BE the DJ?

Favorite skit would be Rosco's Oriental Rug Company...........closing the doors for good!!!!

> Favorite skit would be ...

(Well, one of them...)

"...I am right and you are wrong. ME!"

and don't forget "The Lame List" (or, "What's Weak This Week"). It wallows in lameness.

The bit Pat did with the clips from Disney Movies still makes me laugh. Joel McHale's rant as the stoner Canadian Olympic snowboarder was great.
______________

Re: OT:Almost Live! -- can someone tape/dvr this for me?

Hey,

I'm in Eastern Washington now, but would love to get a copy of this. Could someone tape or (even better) make a DVD of this for me? I'd really like to see this!

just email me at: pretentiousart @ gmail . com

Thanks!

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll be watching for sure. One of my favorite skits was the Green River Dancers from Kent.

I would say the spoof of Westside story...

Or Christmas special "Dance of the Beer Fairies"

Shafer WAS NOT featured...Sorry

After watching the extremely short special, NO Ross Shafer clips!!

I apologize if anyone watched the special JUST for this;
-my source WAS an 'Almost Live' cast member....ummmm

To make up for this, here's a RARE 1988 pic of Ross from his former
Fox Netwotk "Late Show" with the entire cast of "Gilligan's Island" -
[Jim Backus (near death) and Natalie Schaefer were in the back on the left]:

shafergilligan8rh.jpg

Enjoyed the "Almost Live" old clips, but what a rushed 'editing' job...

Bill Nye seemed quite skittish towards the demonstrations,
and Kesiter looked uneasy and tired thruout...

No 'Man on the Street' - No 'LAME LIST' - No J.P.!!

However the "time machine" opening was good, and the newer skits were great -

>>> Overall grade: B-

A brief clip of that was featured. Nancy Guppy is still as cute as a button. I think John Keister should be voted as the one who has changed the most.
______________

A brief clip of "Ballard Vice" with Shafer & Keister was shown. But it wasn't "All Star Ballard Vice". It was one of the earlier sketches. They produced a couple during the early years. They did mention "Louie, Louie" becoming the state song thanks to "Govanor" Nancy Guppy in the opening.
______________
