OT- Art with 7 ATR700

Hah, I gave him most of those machines! Great video, hadn't seen that one yet. If you look through his videos, you'll find an old Harris turntable I donated to him also.

So it was you? :D
He made a video just for the CB1201 wich I've seen with carefuly because I have one too ;)

Yes, the guy that made those videos is a 20 year close friend and fellow Broadcast Engineer. He usually takes the junk that Radio and TV stations are wanting to throw away. Most of those ATR700's and that Harris Turntable came from an old studio in Donalsonville, GA...used to be WGMK/WSEM/WBBK. We moved the studios to Bainbridge, GA about 2 years ago, and just moved the transmitters a few weeks ago. The studio is now a church. There was a large collection of antique gear there...and none of it got thrown away thank goodness.

Nice setup...looked almost exactly like the equipment at WGMK. That's a Stereo 80 console right? We got a pile of those from the old studio.

The ATR700's were good .... until you had to work on them. Replacing switches was a major problem.
I believe that the tape machines were actually made by Teac and sold under the Ampex name.

On the other hand, I've removed the relays the previous owners placed on channel 1 and 2 of the Stereo 80 for the remote mic opening, replaced two bearings on the Criterion 80 3D motor... So many things left to do but my personal life is messing around...

The ATR700's were Teacs. Major weakness were the drive motors--instead of a rear bearing they used a piece of Teflon. When that wore out the machines would not run on speed.
