OT-Honest, Fair, Everywhere...and consulting

I heard a rumor that Steven Doerr, the news director at WOIO has stepped down to take a role as a consultant.
If true, I wonder if he was jumped or if he was pushed...I mean, aren't they the fastest growing newscast in Cleveland? Don't they have access to the Browns that none of the other teams have?

"CONsultant" huh? So he brings up ONE newscast (11pm) and he thinks he knows what he's doing? Anyone with a single working brain cell should realize that the only reason WOIO placed where they did weeknights at 11 was because of CBS' prime-time schedule...particularly a strong 10pm lead-in almost every night. If their schedule sucked, so would their 11pm ratings (look at WEWS and other ABC affliates). That's Doerr's only thing he can claim. Every other daypart is placing last. For example, their 6pm casts gets beat (almost consistently) by the syndicated fare on WBNX and sister WUAB and their 4pm casts barely register.
If I were Reed, Tanchek & the rest of his hires, I'd be working on my packages.
Have you noticed they haven't been doing any "bragging" over the past few months about their ratings and the 100 extra people who happened to be watching at 11 because they fell asleep during "CSI: Miami"? When you're at the bottom, the only direction you can go is up.

Doerr's Out

It's official, as Julie Washington reports Doerr's departure in the PD this morning.

If you miss my "Action News" rants, you can catch my take here:
