Great guy. Passed away last night/this morning from a stroke in Wisconsin.

R.I.P., Joe.

WOW.
Sad.
Bob, how old?
He was a "bigger than life" guy if you knew him.
God bless.

From what I can find, he was 69 years old.

Never missed a snap in the Saints' first two seasons, '67-'68.

What a loss. Joe always had a smile, a joke and a warm handshake for everyone he ever met.

Gonna miss ya Joe. See you one day on the other side.

What a classy gentleman. I always looked forward to helping in the "Pole Bowl" just to see Wendy. He would always greet me with "how are you, you old whippersnapper". He loved to talk about his wife Brenda and always wanted to know how my daughter was doing. He was one of the only guys she'd hug not know him from Adam. It was delightful listening to his stories of the early Saints days, being I attended most all of them in Tulane Stadium as a kid. They spent more time in the Quarter than they did on the field. It was humbling to me knowing he listened and called to shoot the breeze while I was on KOOL 95.7. Joe was and is the only guy who could out talk Rene Nadeau. Get those two in a room, you couldn't get a word in.

Joe was a Vice President for the Saints Hall of Fame Museum and it's a shame he has never been inducted. He did a lot for this community and should be in there. Are you listening Kenny Trahan. My thoughts and prayer are with his family and his love of his life, Ms. Brenda.

Joe Wendryhoski truly enjoyed his life here in New Orleans and he will be sadly missed at alumni events. He told me once on the phone that after the Saints cut him in pre-season of 1969, he got a call from Don Shula in Miami to play there but he passed on it & thought it was better to settle down and open up his real estate apprasial service. He also once stated that when the Saints had to play at Green Bay/Milwaukee in 1968 vs the Packers, head coach Tom Fears was still upset that Vince Lombardi didn't consider him to take his place at Packers head coach (it went to Phil Bengston in '68) so Fears decided he was going to "show up the Packers" by using Lombardi's play-calling terminology in the game. Wendryhoski knew they would lose the game because as soon as a nervous-third string QB Ronnie Lee South (in for injured Kilmer & Sweetan) got to the line & called the signals, Packers linebacker Ray Nitschke knew what play was going to be run....the Saints got smothered as a result. Only in New Orleans. Too bad Joe didn't write a book, with his sense of humor it would have been a best seller! We will miss you Joe!
Search Joe's name on youtube.com for a video tribute to his local life & times.
