OT/TV:New Indians Network-Sportstime Ohio

The New Indians Network will be called Sportstime Ohio..Press conference happening now..

It will be interesting to see how the Tribe handles their telecasts in-house.

While WKYC provides the production expertise, This is the Indians' baby.

By choosing the name "Sportstime Ohio", It appears that they are hoping to be a "YES" type network, and would no doubt like to grab the Cavs when the time is right.

As far as the announcers go:

On Sportstime, it looks like it is the usual Sanders/Manning/Hegan rotation that was on FSN, with Jim Donovan doing pregame and postgame.

On WKYC, it looks like Donovan on play by play, and probably Manning as analyst.

Maybe they can carry the Fox replacement for UPN...or air the 23 News...
 
Wow...I predicted from the get-go that vanilla John Sanders wouldn't be retained...i've yet to hear anyone say "wow, John Sanders, one of the better play-by-play men in all of baseball," in fact - i've heard quite the opposite.

They needed a play by play guy because while Jim Donovan could do the 20 games on channel 3, there is no way he could do all the games on Sportstime because of his anchoring duties.

It is easier to go with what you know than try to find something else on short notice.

It probably wasn't for a lack of interest.

More than likely, it was because there would be conflicts with the Cavs schedule and the FSN contract.
