OT/TV: STO/Directv screwups - can't see the game!

The DirecTV system at my house in Cleveland is showing "Channel not purchased" on STO as of 5:30 (game started at 5). FSN Ohio (and every other channel I've ordered) comes in fine. I watched the last two Indians games on STO without a problem. The "Channel not purchased" box came up a few times before the first game (when STO wasn't broadcasting anything and they were just setting up the channel on DTV) but never during a game!

Anyone else having this problem? I'm in the same zip code (44125) as WTAM's studios in Independence, which is broadcasting the game right now. It's not like I'm in some fringe area. I know they're having issues adding zip codes and so forth, but I hope someone gets this straightened out.

Actually, the studio is in 44131, the transmitter is 44141, I'm in 44109, and I couldn't get the game on DIRECTV either.

With all these mentions about zip codes, I would imagine somebody is going to go postal over STO soon.

Checked the Moohead site...turns out Directv blacked out the entire market "accidentally". The STO channel flipped on sometime after 8PM, just in time to watch a Directv logo with easy listening music playing in the background. I guess that means we'll actually see the next game. On the upside, I can't complain about the game's outcome.

I thought Independence, Valley View, and Garfield Hts were all 44125...guess not.

Nope. Independence is 44131. Valley View & Garfield Hts are 44125 (although some times it comes up as "Cleveland").

Also, is anyone noticing a drop in audio levels where there is a MILD peak (i.e. a ball being hit). It's obviously a processing issue, but I don't know if it's STO or Dish Network. Anyone else -- either cable or sattelite having this problem?

I'm from area code 43845 and the game was blacked out for me yesterday. I called direct tv 3 times before I finally decided to be a (BLEEP) to the operator on the other line. I was being told it wasnt available at all to me in my area, but it was all of last week, and the sto site lists it being available. I demanded to be connected to a supervisor. I would wait a few minuets and the same operator would come back to me telling me the supervisor was busy. After a good 15 minutes of pretty much him telling me I couldnt get it and I should buy the mlb league pass (which would have the tribe home games blacked out). I told the guy to go check the sto website while I wait for a supervisor. He came back without speaking to the supervisor and apologized greatly explaining it was their error and I was correct. So if the problems happens again be a jerk to Direct Tv it worked for me. I just feel sorry for those who missed out on some great baseball because of Direct Tv's screw up.

Hamilton mentioned something over the weekend about DirectTV finally signing on as one of the very last holdouts..I think some of the smaller cable systems are still in discussions with STO..

On digital cable, the picture quality is amazing..

What we're watching is very much a work in progress..I'm curious as to what they plan to do once baseball season is over, since they've made noise about being a 24 hour network..anybody hearing anything about discussions about football, hockey, (if Gilbert actually follows thru on bringing a team to replace the Barons at the ''Q'') or anything else..

And an unrelated question..

Where is the ''Cleveland Rants'' show originating from? Anyone with a take?
