OT/TV: WJW/8 Heading Back To UHF

The FCC has issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking backing WJW/8's request to move back to UHF RF channel 31.

Barring anything unforeseen in the way, "Fox 8 News" could return to many OTA tuners as soon as the end of the year.

This is great news! Now if only WOIO would move from channel 10 to a UHF channel I'd be happy. Their little signal on RF 10 just doesn't get it. At least WJW is somewhat easier to receive on 8 but I have had problems with WOIO since the digital transition and unfortunately I'm not in the area to receive them on their UHF LP.

IT, where are you?

I ask because as I read your message, I saw that promo 19 is running, telling viewers about their "new powerful tower", with an image that shows a map with Cleveland along with Akron and Canton.

I'm curious how much of southern Cuyahoga County is being helped by the translator. Maybe places like Brecksville and Independence?

I've never understood WOIO using channel 10 for their digital signal as that short-spaces them with CFPL Channel 10 in London, Ontario which I have often received with a watchable signal on an analogue TV over WOIO's digital hash in Vermilion. Wasn't CFPL planning to keep their signal on Channel 10 post digital transition? Was WJW's digital signal easier to receive when it was on channel 31 as opposed to channel 8?
