It's amazing how an unamplified but large corner reflector can pull in signals if there is enough height. In this case the antenna was on top of a 3 story house. We had it professionally installed.
This was in the days where you ran down a set of wires from the VHF antenna to the VHF inputs, the same for UHF. I imagine that using a combo antenna and splitting the signals would not have been as effective.
I remember we used the highest quality twin lead wires. I think they were foam shielded. We never skimped on the little things because of the overall investment in the system.
