Other big news....

104.1 WURH is officially on the chopping block as the station Cheap Channel is spinning off to the Aloha Trust while a buyer is found.

I pray to God it's not bought by Entercom and flipped to another WEEI station. 103.7 is already a waste of a signal with Boston sports.

Personally, I'd like to see the existing format remain, but perhaps given a bit more energy in the presentation. Hopefully a new owner can beathe more life into the station.

Another option is to have a new owner take over and give Hartford the CHR it deserves. Kiss is just a joke.

Just my 2 cents.

Please don't flip the station to urban again, or Spanish. That's all I ask. I love the music on Radio 104.1 as it stands.

Why would Hartford need THREE CHR stations?

Hartford does not have 3. KC 101 is a New Haven Station that can be picked up in Hartford.
That said, back pre 1994, there were 3 stations in the Hartford/New Haven Area: Kiss 95.7, 96 'TIC and KC 101.

Ummmmmm...104 was sent packing because they obviously did not make any money :-[. You would have thought when 'CCC sent them packing years ago they would've learned their lesson. Ouch.

be funny if radio 104 came out of nowhere lol...
probably not ever going to happen

Ummmm...104 was killed off by Cheap Channel long before they flipped back to Alternative. It has nothing to do with WCCC. In my mind, it's not the format, it's the owner.

Could the Hartford market support an R&B/Soul station similar to WRKS or WBLS in NYC? Has there ever been a station with this format in Hartford? The only thing that comes close in all of CT is WYBC in New Haven and their signal is pitiful.

Absolutely, 'CCC is a joke.

Maybe Entercom will buy 104.1 and put WAAF on in CT . But I like to see local ownership make a come back.

Hartford can support an Urban A/C station. Almost no one can get WYBC in The Hartford Market, But WYBC always show up in The Hartford radio ratings . Will 104.1 become a R&B station ? It depend who buy 104.1 . If Inner City buy 104.1, GREAT ! If Radio One buy 104.1, YUCK !

Unfortunately I don't see local ownership coming back anytime soon. But, at the same time we don't need a satellite of a Boston station here.

Personally I'd like to see Buckley buy 104.1 and put the talk format on there. Then I'd like them to put the 50s and 60s Oldies Music they play on 102.9 HD2 put on the 4 AM Stations. (They moved the 50s and 60s oldies to the AM sister to an FM they own in upstate New York).

Or Stephanie Miller...

Sorry, Marc, you won't be getting your Dr. Joy Browne in crystal-clear FM...

I wonder if Phoenix Media would be interested in the Hartford market, despite the fact that they do not have a newspaper here. If they added a WFNX affiliate, that would be great news for fans of the current format. FNX's playlist is much better than anything CC could ever manage and has actual presenters, who would be located in Boston of course.

If it didn't work in Providence, why would it work in Hartford?

Well the easiest way I could answer that is that a 24/7 FM station about Boston sports would probably be a much harder sell in Hartford than in Providence. It seems to me an FNX affiliate would probably be listened to more than an EEI affiliate in Hartford, whereas the opposite apparently is true in Providence.

Of course 104.1 could become something completely different, but I think either of those options could be possible, and I'd prefer FNX by a longshot.
